According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia, in January-August 2020, 309,555.7 thousand dollars were imported from Azerbaijan to Georgia, which is 6.3% of total imports. Azerbaijani imports decreased by 15.5 compared to the same period last year.
Last year, 367,362 products worth $ 3,000 got imported to Georgia from Azerbaijan.
With a share of 6.3%, Azerbaijan ranks fifth in the top ten importing countries. It is ahead of the US, China, Russia, and Turkey.
In January-August 2020, the share of the ten largest import partner countries in Georgia's total imports was 69.9 percent. The top three include Turkey ($ 840.7 million), Russia ($ 554.6 million), and China ($ 440.9 million).
In January-August 2020, the foreign trade turnover of goods in Georgia (excluding undeclared trade) amounted to $ 7 022.8 million, which is 16.7 percent less than the previous year. Out of this, export is $ 2 071.4 million (down by 14.7 percent), while imports amounted to $ 4,951.4 million (17.5 percent less). Georgia's negative trade balance in January-August 2020 amounted to $ 2 880.0 million, which is 41.0 percent of foreign trade turnover.
