The United States expects the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) project to expand, the US Embassy in Azerbaijan reports.
The United States was represented at the 7th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Consultative Council by Kurt Donnelly, the Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Diplomacy, and Ambassador Litzenberger.
"The SGC is a significant technological and diplomatic achievement. We are proud of the fruitful cooperation between government agencies and private companies for completing this project on time and with a budget of less than $ 7 billion," reads the statement.
TAP is transporting natural gas from the Shah Deniz gas field to Europe. The 878 km long pipeline connects the Turkish-Greek border with the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline and runs through Greece, Albania, and the Adriatic Sea to southern Italy.
