A meeting of the National Supervisory Board of the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Program (GEF) was held today.

The officials discussed ideas of small projects presented by non-governmental and community organizations.

Georgia's Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Nino Tandilashvili stated that these initiatives would foster dialogue between civil society, government, and the private sector to improve environmental management.

It will also facilitate access to practical knowledge about environmental protection and women's active involvement in this activity.

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Program is jointly implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Georgian Ministry of Environment and Agriculture.

Within the Small Grants Program, 72 applications for small projects have been submitted.

The Council will determine the winning projects after the examination.

The grant equals $250,000.
