ADY Express Ltd., a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways, started transporting export-oriented cargo by the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway for the first time in 2021.

One of the main functions of ADY Express is to transport Azerbaijani export goods to foreign markets. This time the company shipped the metal structures manufactured by Baku Steel Company to Turkey. The cargo was delivered from Baku to Turkey, to the station Paia.

Metal constructions loaded in gondola railway carriages entered Akhalkalaki station from Baku. In Akhalkalaki, the cargo was transferred to Turkish wagons, after which the freight train continued its journey.

It is planned to transport 5 000 tons of metal construction in 75 wagons via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. The first 15 wagons have already been delivered, and the rest of the cargo is still on the way.

Azerbaijan plans to continue transporting this type of goods on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars route.

In 2020 ADY Express transported a total of 49 739 tons of cargo via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, of which 97% is transit cargo, and 3% is imported. For comparison, in 2019, the company managed to transport 25 722 tons of cargo via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
