As the National Statistics Office of Georgia reports, the inflation rate in Georgia totaled 0.2% in May 2020, while the annual inflation rate hit 6.5%.

In May 2020, the core inflation rate was 5.9%.

Without tobacco, the annual core inflation rate equaled 5.4%.

Price changes mainly influenced the formation of the monthly inflation rate in hotels, cafes and restaurants, and healthcare transport.

The group of hotels, cafes, and restaurants observed an increase in prices by 4.3%. Thus, its share in the monthly index was 0.22%.

Healthcare prices increased by 1.3%. The group's share in the monthly index was 0.1%.

Prices in the subgroup of medical products, apparatus, and equipment (+ 2.8%) also increased.

The transport group showed a decrease in prices by 2.4%.

The transport share in the monthly index was -0.27 %. Besides, prices fell on personal vehicles (-4.4%).

Last year prices on fruits have risen by 47%, dairy - by 25%, meat products - by 13.5%, and bakery products - by 9.2%.
