"The OMV Austrian oil company will search and produce oil and gas in Georgia as it has won an open international tender,'' Georgian Minister of Economy Natia Turnava stated.
In her words, it is another confirmation that Georgia's business environment is reliable and transparent.
As a reminder, on June 22, 2020, the State Oil and Gas Agency of the Ministry of Economy of Georgia held an open international tender to issue a general license for the use of oil and gas resources on the second and third license blocks on the Black Sea.
OMV PETROM S.A., a member of the largest Austrian oil company OMV Group, won the second license block.
The tender winner company will launch drilling work after seismic operations are over.
As Forbes reported in 2019, OMV Group is the second in Austria and 79th in the world. Among the oil and gas companies, OMV ranks 10th in Europe.
