Online sales boosted automobile exports to Azerbaijan and Ukraine in 2020, the business review of galt and taggart mentions.
According to commentators, Azerbaijan is the largest export market for car re-exports from Georgia. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, car exports to Azerbaijan amounted to 226.4 million US dollars in 2020, which indicates a 12.6% decline in the annual figure. Exports declined in the 2nd and 4th quarters. In the second quarter of 2020, car exports from Georgia to Azerbaijan halved on a yearly basis, with a decrease of 50.4%, while the fourth decrease amounted to 45.6%.
The second largest market for car exports from Georgia is Ukraine, where car exports increased by 1.3% and amounted to 81.1 million US dollars. Exports fell by 68.5% in the second quarter alone.
According to galt and taggart researchers, car re-exports to Azerbaijan and Ukraine were maintained through online sales.
