In January 2021, Azerbaijan exported 4,900 tons of oil bitumen, according to customs declarations, report.az informs with reference to the country’s State Customs Committee.

The monetary value of the exported oil bitumen was $798,000.

During the reporting period, the share of oil bitumen in the country's total exports amounted to 0.05%.

Azerbaijan proved to be Georgia's major bitumen supplier in 2020. 

Georgia imported 82.1 thousand tones of bitumen (63.8% of the country's total imports) from Azerbaijan in 2020. As per the existing data, Azerbaijani bitumen covers more than 60% of Georgia's market, with 91% being SOCAR's. 

Other countries that also supply Georgia with bitumen are as follows: Iraq (26.6 thousand tonnes or 20.7%), Iran (9.1 thousand tonnes or 7.1%), Russia (7.2 thousand tonnes or 5.6%), Turkey (2.4 thousand tonnes or 1.9%), Armenia (0.9 thousand tonnes or 0.7%), the United Arab Emirates (0.2 thousand tonnes or 0.1%), and Albania (0.2 thousand tonnes or 0.1%).

Annual bitumen imports from Iran saw a downward trend by dropping from 146,000 tons to 9,100.
