Azerbaijan plans to increase gas supplies to Turkey and Europe

"Our goal is to supply 6 billion cubic meters of gas a year to Turkey and supply 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Europe by 2022," said Saltuk Duzyol, the Director General of the TANAP consortium.

According to him, for the first time in history, Azerbaijani gas is transported to the European market due to combining the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) and Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) as a single one.

According to him, on the first day of TAP's launch, December 31, 2020, 10.9 million cubic meters of gas reached Europe.

Duzyol noted that after the completion of TANAP, the most important strategic project of Turkey-Azerbaijan energy cooperation, preparations have begun to supply gas through TAP to Europe, which is gaining the function of international energy security. According to Duzyol, this is a strategic project, as it represents an alternative energy corridor for the EU.

According to the consortium director, the TANAP project was completed on schedule, saving 45% of the planned investment. He said the total volume of natural gas supplies to Turkey through TANAP reached 8.4 billion cubic meters by the end of December 2020.
