Georgia imported 4.2 thousand tons of oil bitumen (84% of the country's total imports) from Azerbaijan in March 2021. Azerbaijan remains Georgia's major supplier of bitumen.
As the Union of Oil Product Importers data show, of Georgia's total bitumen imports, 84.3% is imported from Azerbaijan, 10.8% (1.1 thousand tons) from Iraq, and 4.9% (0.5 thousand tons) from Russia.
In January-March 2021, oil bitumen imports totaled 10.2 thousand tons, which is 4.1 thousand tons or 28.7% less than the amounts of bitumen (14.3 thous tons) imported last year.
''In our view, bitumen imports will increase in the coming months, with this related to more intensive infrastructure works. It must also be noted that Azerbaijan proves to be our country's major bitumen supplier, which has replaced Iran,'' theUnion of Oil Product Importers says.
