Bakradze says Georgia, Turkey, Azerbaijan are involved in active cooperation

"Georgia gives great importance to its strategic partnership with Turkey and Azerbaijan and appreciates it immensely," Georgian Ambassador to the United States Davit Bakradze said at the online webinar dedicated to the completion of the Southern Gas Corridor project.

In Bakradze's words, Georgia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan have been involved in active cooperation during the past years due to the development of the transport and energy corridors in the region.

The Georgian diplomat also stressed that the Southern Gas Corridor promotes progress and stability in the region and energy security of Europe and the Euro-Atlantic area.

Georgia is a host country in the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC),' with this being critical for the country's energy independence. Following the corresponding agreements, Georgia will get the SGC gas at a considerably reduced rate. The options contract enables the country to get around 5% of gas passing through it annually. The deal is valid before 2066. The additional gas purchase and sale agreement is in force until 2026. In accordance with the agreement, Georgia will receive around 500 mln cubic meters of gas annually.
