“Small Hydro Power Plants which do not require guaranteed energy purchases from the Government, will enjoy the benefits”, Natia Turnava, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia said. The decision made at the Government meeting is about reducing the construction guarantee. If in the past investors needed $ 100 thousand guarantee, now this number is reduced to $ 10 thousand.
“This is another step taken towards energy market reform. On the one hand, the opened the market and created the competition, which has stimulated HPPs that do not require guaranteed purchase agreements and on the other hand, we further reduced the guarantee, leaving more resources to be used for the rapid construction of Hydro Power Plants”, Natia Turnava said.
