Commitment for Euro 5 standard for diesel fuel to be extended for year

According to the Union of Oil Product Importers, the law on introducing the Euro 5 diesel standard will be postponed for another year, and the government's decision will be made public in the near future. As Vano Mtvralashvili, the head of the Union, told report.ge, he is aware that the government will postpone setting a new standard for diesel fuel for at least a year. According to Mtvralashvili, the government took into account the position of the Azerbaijani side, as well as Georgian importers, and the issue was finally resolved in favor of business, which is a logical decision during an epidemic.

"Of course, the standard needs to be improved, but in the current situation, it is out of the question. Today there is no alternative to this issue, especially when there are significant social and economic challenges due to the epidemic. Consumers will have a relatively cheap product in the form of diesel fuel (with 15 tetri difference at least). Besides, as a strategic partner of our country, Azerbaijan will continue to be represented in the Georgian market as one of the main suppliers of diesel," said Vano Mtvralashvili.
