The bay laurel export season has started in Georgia. According to its producers, the harvest is better and the price of bay laurel leaves has also become more or less stable, with its selling price amounting to 5 GEL. The 2017 USAID studies say that Georgia is ranked in the list of the ten best bay laurel exporting countries. Reportedly, Georgia has 49 exporters of bay laurel leaves.
As per the Revenue Service, the bay laurel was mainly exported to Russia, Turkey and Ukraine in 2018. A country which is on par with Georgia in terms of bay laurel export at the EU market is Turkey. However, as experts claim, Georgian bay laurel quality is much better than that of Turkey.
