Economic Minister says Georgia will maintain 'green zone' status

"The status of a green zone is a significant achievement that we will not give it up," Georgian Economic Minister Natia Turnava said.

She contradicts the opinion of losing the 'green zone' status as the number of COVID-infected people sharply increased.

"We have not lost our green zone status,'' she said.

''Our actions are reflected in the fact that we act adequately and effectively from the very first day of the pandemic. Previously, the main thing was to prevent the spread of the virus quickly, now the main thing is to learn how to coexist with the virus not to harm the economy," Turnava stated.

In her words, the assumption that as the number of tests performed increases is wrong.

"We knew in advance that infections would increase,'' she said, adding that Georgia could not close the economy for an extended period, 'since our task is to return to economic recovery in time.'
