"Due to the reforms, conducted by our government, we managed to be able to import energy from any of our neighbors as none of them is dominant, especially our northern neighbor unlike 2012, when we received 90% of power from Russia and Georgia depended on it,'' Georgian Economic Minister Natia Turnava said today.

She made this statement in response to a question on importing power from Azerbaijan via a mediator company.

Natia Turnava says Georgia is more independent in energy today, as it enjoys a choice.

In his words, imports from Azerbaijan plays an essential role as an alternative.

"Simultaneously, we import from Turkey, Russia, and – in case of necessity – Armenia. We are proud of the choice,'' Natia Turnava stated.

Notably, as MP Levan Gogichaishvili said, Bidzina Ivanishvili's cousin's Ucha Mamatsashvili's company receives nine mln USD annually and mediates between Georgia's State Electric System and Azerbaijani Electric System.

Turnava said this information is not valid as Mamatsashvili has nothing to do with the imports.
