Electricity imports to Georgia totaled 413.7 million kilowatt-hours in February 2021. Of this, 258 million kilowatt-hours came from Russia, 148.8 million kilowatt-hours from Azerbaijan, and 6.9 million kilowatt-hours from Turkey, the company "El Green" informed report.ge.

According to them, imports from Russia - 258 million kilowatt-hours - were fully used to balance the consumption of de facto Abkhazia, and neither "ESCO" nor the state budget paid for it.

"In February, the price offered for imports from Russia to ESCO decreased compared to January and amounted to 3.5 cents at night, 3.7 cents on weekends, and 7.8 cents during the day. The average price of imports from Turkey according to the requested schedules was 4,595 cents. As for the price of electricity imported by Azerbaijan from "El Green," it was 4.4 cents. It should be noted that before making the decision, "ESCO" also considered simultaneous imports from Russia and Turkey as an alternative to importing from Azerbaijan. This further strengthened the opinion that in recent months the competitor of "El Green" and Azerbaijan in the Georgian electricity import market is Turkey and not Russia. This competition was the inspiration behind the decision of "El Green" to offer ESCO an attractive price in February - a stable 4.4 cents," the company told report.ge.

According to their calculations, in January, the price of "El Green" was 3.9 / 3.9 / 5.4; in February, it became even cheaper and amounted to 4.4 / 4.4 / 4.4.

"In making its decision, ESCO also took into account that February is a dangerous period for avalanches and imports from Russia via a 500-kilowatt high-voltage line are very risky. Part of the 148.8 million kilowatt-hours imported by Azerbaijan from "El Green," namely 22.9 million kilowatt-hours, was supplied directly to consumers, while ESCO imported 125.9 million kilowatt-hours. As for the energy supplied from Turkey in the amount of 6.9 million kilowatt-hours, it was implemented in late February on the principle of emergency mode, and this volume of electricity was returned to the Turkish energy system in the first half of March, " "El Green" told report.ge.

The company "El Green" in the future will try to operate with the most acceptable pricing policy in the Georgian electricity import market and will inform the public about the work done.
