Finance Minister: We counted money thoroughly when cutting expenses

"It is a new, completely re-planned budget," Georgian Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani said, commenting on the 2020 anti-crisis budget.

"Changes in the budget are not standard but large-scale. In total, we saved 600 million GEL: 300 million GEL in capital expenditures and 300 million GEL in terms of current expenses. We thoroughly counted money and managed to reduce expenses by 100,000 GEL, which starts with business trips, fuel, and administrative expenses, and somewhere by 200,000 GEL. It aims to maximize the release of the funds required to finance pandemic control, as well as to compensate for the damage caused,'' Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani said.

"We tried to minimize expenses that became irrelevant in a pandemic," Machavariani stated.
