Georgia's Parliamentary Committee for the Protection of the Environment and Natural Resources is working to stiffen legislation on fuel quality regulation.

As the committee chairperson, Nino Tsilosani said, the regulations would be much stricter than the current ones.

In her words, the bill has not yet been drawn up, but the work is underway with stakeholders, and the committee would raise an initiative shortly.

"Currently, the penalty equals 8,000 GEL, and I think it is not sufficient. Supposedly, the seller is not interested in improving the fuel quality because he can afford the fine," Tsilosani said.
