Gardabani thermal power plan to generate 1.3 billion kWh electricity

The Gardabani Thermal Power Plant 2 of 230-megawatt capacity has opened in Gardabani, Kvemo Kartli region of Georgia.

As reported by the Economic Ministry, Georgia's Oil and Gas Corporation has invested about 180 million USD in the high-efficient and eco-friendly facility construction.

The new thermal power plan has an innovative function that implies starting operation from scratch.

It means that the power station will resume electric power in case of an emergency in the Georgian power system.

The new efficient power plant consumes less gas than the old power blocks.

Georgian PM Giorgi Gakharia, Economic Minister Natia Turnava, and officials from the Oil and Gas Corporation attended the opening ceremony.

The Gardabani thermal power plant will generate about 1.3 billion kWh electricity per annum.
