The design-rehabilitation works of the 14.8 kilometers (13-27km) section of the Sagarejo-Desert-Davit Gareji highway of domestic importance are underway; the Roads Department informs report.ge. According to them, the rehabilitation section is located in the Kakheti region, particularly on the territory of Sagarejo municipality, which starts 12 km from Sagarejo and ends on the territory of the village Udabno. Road improvement is important both for the locals and pilgrims, as well for tourism.
"Within the framework of the project, the damaged road will be fully rehabilitated, and earthworks will be carried out, the road foundation will be arranged, the asphalt-concrete pavement will be laid, new artificial buildings will be repaired, and arranged. Also, the pavement will be cut out, and road signs will be installed. The project is funded with GEL 6.4 million from the state budget. The works will be completed this summer. Rehabilitation of 13.4-kilometer section (36-49km) of Sagarejo-Udabno-Davit Gareji Monastery completed last year. The rehabilitated section starts on the territory of the village Udabno and ends near the Davit Gareji monastery complex. The works were financed with GEL 6 million from the state budget," the Roads Department revealed.
