Georgia-Azerbaijan cross-border digital platform being established

The Minister of Finance of Georgia, Lasha Khutsishvili, shared the information about establishing the Georgia-Azerbaijan cross-border digital platform during the annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank. As the Chairperson of the ADB Board of Directors, he participated in the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program (CAREC) on the topic: "Restoration of regional cooperation through digital transformation." In his speech, the Minister of Finance of Georgia stressed the importance of cooperation between CAREC member states and noted that the promotion of regional trade and the formation of a logistics corridor are the main goals of the Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program.

"I would like to mention a very important project supported by the Asian Development Bank. It is an innovative idea of a joint customs checkpoint between Georgia and Azerbaijan. The project will develop a digital platform connected to the information systems of both countries. We are confident that this will greatly facilitate cross-border movement and may become a good model for the CAREC corridor," Lasha Khutsishvili noted.

In addition to the Asian Development Bank, the United States will assist Georgia in digitizing the Transport Corridor.
