The novel coronavirus pandemic has hit the world tourism.

Georgia enjoys a green country status, as it is the only one in the region coping with the crisis successfully.

Georgia manages the pandemic well. No new cases were reported for the last 24 hours, and the number of the infected remains 879, with 742 recovered and 14 dead.

The first case of the coronavirus was detected on February 26, 2020.

Georgia opened domestic tourism on June 15, while it will host foreign visitors starting July 1.

Georgia and Azerbaijan planned tourist cooperation in December 2019, but the novel coronavirus made the countries postpone the plan.

The two countries planned to create joint tours for third countries in 2020.

''Tourists will be able to visit two countries with different traditions and cultures as part of the same tour. The border crossing procedures will be simpler for the tourists involved in the tour,'' Georgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zurab Pataridze said earlier.

An Azerbaijani Tourist Showroom was established to intensify the collaboration, but it remains closed for the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The showroom officials, working in a remote mode, have no answer on how long the countries suspend their joint tourist plan implementation. Manager Mariam Natadze says that the solution 'remains vague' due to the pandemic.

''We hope everything will be over shortly, and we will be able to answer any of your questions,'' Natadze told report.ge.

The novel coronavirus pandemic reduced the number of Azerbaijani visitors to Georgia by 97.4%. All types of travel (exclusive of transit) remain prohibited.

As of June 15, Azerbaijan detected 367 new cases of coronavirus, and the number of the infected reached 10,324. One hundred twenty-two people have died, while 5739 have recovered.

Azerbaijan resumed domestic flights on June 15 and planned to open airports for international flights on July 1.
