Health professionals are confident that the vaccines will be available only to a narrow target group by the end of 2020 and will reach full productivity by 2021.
"Candidates for Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna COVID vaccine were more than 90% effective in phase 3 trials in November 2020. This result is well above the expected 60-70%, which is sufficient to elicit group immunity. It should be noted that AstraZeneca / Oxford vaccine has shown 70% efficacy, and Johnson & Johnson results will be published soon. Safety studies are not yet complete, but positive results are expected," the study said.
