Georgia develops requirements to be met by foreign tourists

The Georgian Ministry of Health has developed requirements for hosting foreign tourists under the recommendations of international organizations, Georgia's Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze said.

In her words, the government may apply quarantine measures if the novel coronavirus is detected.

As Minister Tikaradze says, a tourist, arriving in Georgia, should have a valid document of a PCR test saying that he/she is COVID-free.

She says Georgia will ensure tests in the airport, and if there are large flows of tourists, they will be accommodated in specific hotels and wait for the test results.

"Georgia has developed the rules for hosting tourists. We have many points where tourists can take tests in case of need. Besides, we maintain all current quarantine zones. We own a sufficient number of tests, and it is essential. The primary requirement is for a tourist to have a valid document with the results of a PCR test, confirming that he/she is COVID-free. We have already agreed with hotels where tourists will wait for answers, in case of large tourist flow," Minister Tikaradze said.

Georgia opened domestic tourism on June 15, while it plans to receive foreign tourists starting July 1.
