As statistical data have it, a total of 23,348 cars in the amount of USD 226,3 mln were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in 2020. Correspondingly, annual exports have dropped by 898.
Last year, Georgia sold 1,513 cars in the amount of USD 9.9 mln, which is 146 cars less than those sold in 2019.
In 2020, car sales fell by 23.7% if compared to those of 2019. The global pandemic has been defined as the main reason for decreased sales.
As the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) reports, 9.9 mln cars were sold on the EU market last year. Sales dropped by 32.3% on the Spanish market, with Italy coming next (-27.9%), followed by France (-25.5%) and Germany (-19.1%).
Georgia is not an exception either. Car imports have fallen more than other imports (by more than $348 mln) in the country. Truck imports have also dropped by -0.4.
Re-export of cars has been halved by $329 mln.
