Georgia exports first batch of honey to Azerbaijan

Over the course of this year, in June, Georgia sold the first batch of honey in Azerbaijan for the first time in the last ten years.

Exports are not large; however, according to exporters, the interest of the neighboring country in Georgian honey is a good sign and stimulus for Georgian beekeepers.

According to the National Statistics Office, Georgia sold 0.2 tons of honey worth 0.8 thousand dollars to Azerbaijan under the 0409 trademark. Exports were conducted by road.

"Exporting to the neighboring countries is profitable and interesting as transport costs and export time grows with distance. If the product is perishable, the time factor is vital, so the entrepreneur is primarily interested in neighboring markets. If the demand for honey from neighboring Azerbaijan increases, we will do our best to offer them a high-quality product," the Beekeepers Association told REPORT.GE.
