"Georgia's energy should develop in the context of the unified energy system in the Caucasus," Zurab Noghaideli, a member of the supervisory board of the energy company El Green stated. According to him, the geographical location of Georgia increases its cross-border role, which should be considered a positive thing. The opportunities of Georgia and its neighbors should be used in the right and positive context. Noghaideli says that Georgia has a fairly strong connection with all four neighbors and can simultaneously exchange electricity with several countries.

"Azerbaijan has a large capacity to receive basic electricity. Much better and cheaper than us. But we have better opportunities for peak hours and summer electricity. Excess electricity during summer and peak hours will be exchanged for basic and winter electricity, for example, with Azerbaijan (although it may happen with other neighbors). In this case, our energy sector, which is still quite efficient today, will be even more efficient in the future," Noghaideli said.

Since 2015, the company "El Green" has been importing cheap electricity from Azerbaijan to Georgia. The company is also engaged in cross-border electricity trade and transits electricity from Azerbaijan to Turkey via Georgia.
