Seven commercial banks operating in Georgia own an internet-acquiring international license of tax systems and provide the trade and service fields, including the public sector.

As per the data of the National Bank of Georgia, Georgians use 6,065,074 debit and 600,501 credit cards currently.

The card owners carry out millions of transactions per day, and the volume of conducted operations exceeds averagely 80 million GEL.

Under the official statistical data of the National bank, debit cards hold 63% of the Mastercard/Maestro payment system market.

The number of the other system debit cards is 329,831.

As Igor Stepanov, Regional Director of the Mastercard, says, Georgia ranks third by the cashless payment method across Europe, and it is a remarkable result.
