Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia held a meeting with Saudi Arabia's Tourism Minister Ahmed al-Khatib today.

The parties discussed the future bilateral prospects of cooperation between the countries.

The officials highlighted the importance of high-level visits between the countries, adding that Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister's visit to Georgia in 2019 represented an additional step for deepening partnership.

The parties discussed areas for investments.

Georgian PM Gakharia said Georgia is ready to expand business and friendly relations with Saudi Arabia and welcomes Saudi Arabian investors.

It was emphasized that Georgia is attractive to Saudi Arabia.

Giorgi Gakharia and Ahmed al-Khatib also emphasized the tourism field and the countries' tourism potential. 

It was noted that in 2019 Georgia hosted more than 75,000 visitors from Saudi Arabia and boasted a 45% increase than in 2018.

The Georgian party said Georgia could double the indicator, adding the simplified visa regime between the countries can facilitate deepening relations.

The parties also discussed free trade issues and remarked that free trade between Georgia and GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries would be mutually beneficial.
