As Georgian Economic Minister Natia Turnava says, the restrictions Georgia has imposed due to Coronavirus will mostly affect tourism.

''The health of our population is most significant… Thus, we had to ban direct flights with Iran and China,'' Turnava stated.

According to her, the direct loss caused by the prohibition mentioned above is at least 30 million GEL per month.

''We hope the world to cope with the challenge shortly,'' Turnava said, adding the virus also harms the global economy.

Georgia loses about 13-14 thousand visitors due to the flight ban with China and will see approximately 26-28 thousand visitors from Iran.

The new Coronavirus outbreak was first detected in China in December 2019.
