A total of 295,175 Azerbaijani tourists visited Georgia last year. Overall annual visitor arrivals from Azerbaijan have dropped by 80.7%, and 1,231,444 fewer Azerbaijani tourists visited Georgia this year.
The Georgian National Tourism Administration says that, according to its tourist arrivals last year, Azerbaijan ranked second, Turkey, with its 335,949 visitors, first, and Armenia third (261,295 tourists).
In 2020, Georgia hosted 1,749,308 foreign visitors (81.3% less than in 2019).
The reason for a drop in tourist arrivals proves to be the pandemic and closed borders.
Georgia and Azerbaijan planned to create joint tourism packages for representatives of third countries, but the plan is stymied for now.
