Under the preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia, in the second quarter of 2020, the Georgian economy contracted by 12.3% compared to the same period last year.

In the second quarter of 2020, Georgia's GDP totaled 11,210.0 million GEL.

Compared to the same period last year, the decline in real GDP was 12.3%, while the deflator increased by 6.3%.

The following sectors of the economy showed the decline: wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repair (-13.2%); construction (-24.5%); activities for the placement and supply of food (-40%); transport and storage (-22.6%); manufacturing industry (-12.1%); professional, scientific and technical activities (-28.8%); financial and insurance activities (-15.5%); administrative and support activities (-54.7%); art, entertainment and recreation (-21.1%);

Growth was observed in healthcare and social activities (14.3%); education (11.7%); agriculture, forestry, and fishing (4.7%); mining industry (6.4%).
