Georgian PM visits Dashbashi Canyon to encourage domestic tourism

"In 2020, we should follow the Travel for Georgia program, travel in our country, and find new places together. One of our destinations should be the Dashbashi Canyon," Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said as he visited one of the Georgian protected areas.

Georgian Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia Levan Davitashvili, Kvemo-Kartli Governor Shota Rekhviashvili, and head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration Mariam Kvrivishvili also visited the Dashbashi canyon.

Private international investment will be made in a protected area for the first time in Georgia.

As PM Gakharia says, such an investment of such a volume is a record for the region.

In his words, the facilities provided for by the project are new and unique.

As Agriculture Minister Levan Davitashvili said, the project envisages a unique glass bridge of 240 meters length with ecotourism paths and a center for visitors. The surrounding area will also include hotels and other types of tourist infrastructure.

The project investment cost exceeds 50 mln GEL.

Dashbashi Canyon is one of the largest canyons in Europe. It is located in Georgia's Kvemo Kartli region, Tsalka Municipality, in the ravine of the river Khrami, near the village Dashbashi.

It situates at 1110-1448 meters above sea level.
