"Adding Georgian technology to the list of special wines of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) was one of the main successes of the wine industry in 2020," this is the assessment of the decision of the General Assembly of the Acting Minister of Environment and Agriculture. The Assembly decided to add the technology of "Chacha made with long maceration" to the OIV list in November 2020.

Until now, the OIV special wines list included a total of 7 wines. "Chacha made with long maceration" became the 8th in the list of OIV special wines.

In 2020, four wines were added to the protected geographical appellations of origin registered in Georgia: "Salkhino Ojaleshi," "Akhmeta," "Tsarafi," and "Akhoebi."

Twenty-four national wines of an appellation of origin are registered at the Georgian National Intellectual Property Center "Sakpatenti": "Kindzmarauli," "Manavi," "Kakheti," "Napareuli," "Teliani," "Mukuzani," "Tsinandali," "Akhasheni," "Gurjaani," "Khvanchkara," "Ateni," "Sviri," "Vazisubani," "Kardenakhi," "Tibaani," "Tvishi," "Kvareli," "Kotekhi," "Khashmi Saperavi," "Bolnisi," "Salkhino Ojaleshi," "Akhmeta," "Tsarafi" and "Akhoebi."
