Georgian wines of different denominations won 13 gold and one silver medal at the prestigious International Wine Competition Sakura in Japan. The National Wine Agency informed report.ge.
186 Japanese women evaluated the wines at the 2021 competition. Wines from the following companies won medals at the Sakura 2021 competition:
Four wines of the Georgian Wine and Spirits Company (GWS) received gold medals: TAMADA GRAND RESERVE 2014, TAMADA MUKUZANI 2018, VISMINO GRAND SAPERAVI 2015, and VISMINO KISI 2018;
Three wines of the company "Chateau Mukhrani also won gold medals: CHATEAU MUKHRANI QVEVRI RED 2018, CHATEAU MUKHRANI RESERVE ROYALE GORULI MTSVANE 2016, and CHATEAU MUKHRANI RESERVE ROYALE SAPERAVI 2016;
Two wines of the company "Kindzmarauli" also won gold medals: ALAZANIS VALLEY 2018 and KONCHO MTSVIVANI KAKHURI;
Two wines of the company "Mtevino" also won gold medals: KINDZMARAULI 2019 and SAPERAVI KHASHMI 2019 ;
Gold medals were awarded to Schuchmann Wines Georgia: SCHUCHMANN SAPERAVI 2019 and Vaziani Company: MAKASHIVILI WINE CELLAR SAPERAVI 2015;
Wine of the company "Pavilion Wines" KAKHETI 2017 won a silver medal at the competition.
As the National Wine Agency explained to report.ge, that various Georgian wines have won many top awards at the Sakura competition, which helps to increase the popularity of the companies and Georgian wine in general as well as gaining a place in the Japanese wine market.
Japan is a strategic market for Georgian wine, where the National Wine Agency has been carrying out marketing activities since 2014.
The "Sakura" Japan Women's Wine Awards 2021 is a large-scale event held for the eighth time this year, featuring more than 4,000 different wines from 32 countries. The competition jury is composed of women working in the field of wine in Japan.
