Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia Gogita Todradze presented the action plan of the office to reporters, adding that the agency will follow three main priorities in the following years:

Production of high-quality official statistics based on the users' needs

Creation and introduction of efficient systems for the data collection and distribution

Strengthening the Geostat possibilities

According to Todradze, the office will offer several new fields in 2020, including two types of research, economic evaluation in the education and real estate sectors.

In Todradze's words, the unemployment rate in Georgia will increase after the Statistics Office studies the workforce based on a new methodology.

According to him, Georgia has 800,000 self-employed civilians at the moment. 80% of the people are farmers, working in their land plots and harvest for their use.

The Georgian government will no longer consider these people as employed.

Geostat will present the newly-calculated unemployment rate allegedly in November 2020.
