Georgian Minister of Agriculture Levan Davitashvili has presented an anti-crisis plan for agriculture today.

Following the plan, farmers and entrepreneurs involved in agricultural activities can receive considerable financial support from the government.

''The direct aid – subsidies for simplicity of cheap farming activities is essential, as they will be able to access to different materials to use in agriculture,'' Davitashvili said.

To help farmers owning small land plots, the Georgian government developed the 'Stimulation Project.'

The program includes subsidies for agricultural activities, namely, mowing.

Natural and legal entities should own land plots registered in the Public Registry of Georgia to receive the subsidies.

The volume of subsidy is 200 GEL per one-hectare land plot (accrued 200 points on the agro-card).

Owners of land plots of 0.25 – 1.25-hectare area will be able to use the points:

To purchase chemical and biological materials for plant protection, seeds, and others.

Owners of land plots of 1.25 – 10.00 hectares area will be able to purchase agricultural service using the points.

The program will begin on May 20, 2020.

All farmers are exempt from irrigation fees in 2020.

PM Gakharia says the government will do everything to ensure the cultivation of all land plots across Georgia.
