Authorities say the issue of Hydro Power Plant construction will be active next year. Rezo Arveladze, Deputy and a Member of the Parliamentary Majority told Report.ge that the state supports the development of Hydro Power Plants and will not change its position in the future.
"We are facing a serious problem because citizens are opposing to the construction of HPPs. Of course the construction of the Hydro Power Plants have impact on the environment, but the risks must be assessed", Rezo Arveladze said.
The construction of HPPs has become one of the first issues addressed by David Narmania, the new Chairman of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission.
