The Georgian delegation took part in the 15th meeting of the Bureau of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly, held in a video conference format due to the pandemic.

According to the press service of the Parliament of Georgia, the Head of the Georgian Delegation to the Parliament Giorgi Khelashvili, Vice-Speaker Kakha Kuchava, MPs Kakha Kakhishvili, Davit Matikashvili, Irakli Zarkua, and Levan Mgaloblishvili attended the meeting.

The main topic of discussion was the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The participants discussed the further deepening of economic cooperation within the GUAM organization and the development of joint projects.

It was noted that free trade and the potential of the transport corridor between the GUAM countries are being used effectively. The talks also focused on deepening cooperation with the Baltic states.

The head of the Georgian delegation, Giorgi Khelashvili, informed the participants about the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia. He also referred to the detention of Georgian citizen Zaza Gakheladze by the illegal Russian occupation regime in the Tskhinvali region.

In 2021, Georgia became the chairman of GUAM.
