Deputy Minister of Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili has visited a blueberry plantation in Naruja, Ozurgeti Municipality, Guria.

Guria Governor Zurab Nasaraia also visited Naruja.

The plantation covers 16 hectares of land. It was planted with government support. The Blueberry company is a beneficiary of the government project 'Plant the Future,' 'Cheap Agro Credit and AgroProduction Supporting Program.

It engaged in the state programs in 2016 and received 100,000 GEL for garden and irrigation systems.

About 150 locals are employed when picking the blueberry.

As Solomon Pavliashvili said, blueberry costs about 13 – 15 GEL and provides high incomes for the producers.

''Berries will be a visit card of Guria in three years,'' he added.

''The blueberry plantation covers 225 hectares in Guria. The projected harvest is 250 tonnes this year,'' Zurab Nasaraia said, adding the region is leading in the production of berries.
