''No budget money is spent in the cheap agro-diesel program,'' Georgian Minister of Agriculture Levan Davitashvili said.
He also explained how the SOCAR Company engaged in the program.
''We conducted an open contest, and SOCAR offered the best conditions. But, you know that the fuel price changes monthly, and our deal includes the issue. It means the price cannot be the same during a year, but we can firmly say that it will be lower than current prices,'' Davitashvili said.
In his words, when the program began, SOCAR petrol stations offered diesel price equalling 2,05 GEL, while the wholesale price for farmers equaled only 1,07 GEL.
Minister Davitashvili stressed that the conditions are unique for the suppliers, and no budget funds are spent.
''Several farmers have already received the agro-diesel cards. What did it imply? It implied that they could receive about 150 liters of diesel per one hectare of the land plot,'' he said, adding larger farmers took part in the program, and farmers owning 100 hectares of land, will receive 15 tonnes of fuel at a discount.
