The Georgian Ministry of Economy has discussed a continuous supply of bitumen to Georgia, which is vital for the construction of the road infrastructure.
The Inter-Agency Board for the Control of Coronavirus, headed by Georgian PM Giorgi Gakharia, raised the issue.
The topic became relevant since Iran, one of the largest bitumen importers to Georgia, was recognized as a country with a high risk of spreading the new coronavirus.
Bitumen from Iran to Georgia was mainly imported by trucks.
The Georgian government set out preventive measures to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.
As Deputy Infrastructure Minister Akaki Sagirashvili says, Georgia, like other countries, is taking preventive measures.
He says it is essential to ensure both the security of the Georgian population and the uninterrupted supply of bitumen.
He said the meeting was ''productive.''
