The Georgian Railway will carry out the transit-container shipping activities with competitive tariffs in the shortest terms based on the request of any freight owner.
The Georgian Railway will ship the freights from Batumi, Poti, and Tbilisi Terminals to Azerbaijan, Central Asia, and Armenia.
As the company managers said yesterday, the Georgian Railway aims to stabilize the freight shipping operations due to this initiative.
Certain specialists say the initiative will have no result.
David Gochava, an expert in railway issues, believes that the cargo owners will not address the Georgian Railway by their own will, and the initiative will not succeed as a result.
''The government should make a special decision on using railway transport for transferring flights instead of vehicles, and the decision should comply with the anti-coronavirus measures conducted nationwide,'' Gochava said.
