"A well-known project like TAP is proof of Turkmenistan's proactive energy diplomacy," the statement came from Rovnag Abdullayev, President of SOCAR, at an international investment forum in the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan. According to Abdullayev, TAP will facilitate peace processes, strengthen economic cooperation, and establish a broad geo-economic space in the Caspian Sea region, Central and South Asia.

In his speech at the forum, Abdullayev focused on the memorandum of understanding signed between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan on January 21, 2021, formed to explore and develop hydrocarbon resources in the Dostluk field in the Caspian Sea.

Rovnag Abdullayev told the public at the forum that there is a huge potential for developing cooperation between Turkmenistan and SOCAR. Abdullayev named the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) as a new opportunity to develop cooperation, which allowed Azerbaijan to export natural gas to European markets for the first time in history.

According to the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), the investment cost of the 3,500-kilometer southern gas corridor was about $ 33 billion. This energy corridor covered seven countries and connected the Caspian region with South-Eastern Europe. According to Rovnag Abdullayev, the Southern Gas Corridor will make a significant contribution to Europe's energy security and environment.
