Construction specialists in Georgia, especially in Tbilisi think that so-called "Khrushovkas" are a serious problem and the safety of the citizens living in such apartments is questionable.
According to Anzor Sakandelidze, Chairman of the Association "Construction without counterfeiting", tells Report.ge, the replacement of "Khrushovkas" is necessary.
Sakandelidze says that first of all it is necessary for the City Municipality to establish its own construction company, after which the Municipality will be responsible for faults and violations.
Ucha Zakashvili, an Expert in Construction Law speaks about the lack of qualification of the builders. According to him replacing “Khrushovkas” by modern and standard buildings would do good. This will free up areas, increase greenery by 20-45% and will allow to create an entirely new residential concept.
