''Economic relations, as well as friendship and strategic partnerships, have linked Georgia with Azerbaijan for years,'' Georgian Minister of Economy Natia Turnava said after the Georgia-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Economic Commission meeting.
In Turnava's words, at the meeting, they discussed the opportunities to carry out joint projects and increase the trade turnover between the two countries.
''We focused on ways to increase trade turnover between our countries, including the export of Georgian products to Azerbaijan. This includes both cement and metallurgical products, as well as agricultural and food products,'' she said, adding that they also placed emphasis on the necessity of expanding the two countries relations in the electric energy field.
''We focused on expanding our relationship in the electric energy field as Azerbaijan has been our No.1 provider of both gas and electricity for years. We have introduced them to our plans on the development of the Black Sea Bed High-Voltage Transmission Cable project, which will enable us to join the EU market and invite them to get involved in the project. They showed great interest,'' Natia Turnava stated.
