The National Bank of Georgia reports that the total foreign debt of Georgia reached 17.8 billion USD (52.6 billion GEL) as of the date of December 30, 2019. It is 102.3% of the latest four quarters' GDP.

In the third quarter of 2019, Georgia's total foreign debt decreased by 433.6 million USD.

The state's foreign debt hit 7.4 billion USD (21.9 billion GEL). It is 42.6% of the Gross Domestic Product. The government sector has a debt of 5.3 billion USD, Nationa Bank - 404.6 million USD, and the state enterprises' obligations and loans reach 825.3 million USD and 855.5 USD, respectively.

The bank sector has 4.2 billion USD (12.6 billion GEL; 24.4% of GDP). The foreign debt of the other areas reached 4.5 billion USD, and the indebtedness between the companies reached 3.3 billion USD.

90.2% of the total external debt is denominated in foreign currency.

The net foreign debt of Georgia reached 10.1 billion USD that represents 58.0% of GDP out of which the net external debt of the state sector is 3.8 billion USD (11.1 billion GEL), reaching 21.7% of the GDP.
