From July 1, 2021, the National Bank of Georgia will start issuing GEL 5 and 20 denomination banknotes of the 2021 issue.
"The National Bank of Georgia meets the demand of the country's economy for cash on a permanent basis and, at the same time, ensures the removal of obsolete banknotes from circulation channels and their renewal. In order to meet the demand for cash, in 2021, the cash supply of the National Bank of Georgia was replenished with banknotes of GEL five and 20 denominations.
These banknotes, according to the identical design and trademarks of their predecessors and the year of issue "2021", were signed by the current President of the National Bank of Georgia. At the same time, in order to reduce the risk of confusion of denominations, on the GEL five and 20 banknotes of the 2021 issue, the tonalities of their background grids have changed slightly without changing the main colors. The 2021 GEL five and 20 denomination banknotes will be issued in parallel with the banknotes of the same denomination of the previous year," the National Bank said.
