The construction of two new lines has been over on the 19-km section of the Kutaisi bypass road.

Starting today the movement will be one-sided to both east and west.

Georgian PM Giorgi Gakharia and other officials have opened a newly-constructed road.

The construction of the remaining 22.3-km section of the road will be completed by the end of 2020.

Afterward, the Kutaisi bypass will include four lines. As Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said, the project implementation would considerably improve road safety.

The bypass road will mitigate traffic flow in Kutaisi and reduce the travel time.

"This is by far one of the most important traffic intersections of the Red Bridge-Sarpi Highway, and this year 70 km of this highway will open, which, along with time savings, will also guarantee the safety of citizens," Giorgi Gakharia stated.

Notably, the project was funded from the state budget.

The project, which costs 200,255,000 GEL, will be over by the end of 2020.
